UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK (UST) LIABILITY COVERAGE. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires most property owners or business operators having an underground storage tank containing a petroleum product to show proof of financial responsibility in case the contents of that underground storage tank cause any bodily injury or property damage, including corrective action costs, to a third party. These underground storage tanks include those designed to hold heating fuels as well as those used for fueling vehicles.
