OFFERING A SURVEY TO COMMERCIAL PROSPECTS

Dear [Name]:

If you try on a pair of shoes that don't fit, you know about it promptly. If you buy insurance that doesn't fit, you might not know it until it's too late.

We have an extremely effective method of testing coverage – discovering early on what kind of insurance, and how much, you should have – as well as what you don't need. Our survey has earned high marks throughout [name of your city].

We urge you to take advantage of this no-obligation service. It is especially important now, with the many changes that have occurred in coverage and rates in recent years.

Please drop the enclosed business reply card in the mail today, or give me a call at [phone number]. We'll arrange a meeting convenient for you and provide the survey without cost or obligation.

Sincerely yours,

UMBRELLA LIABILITY

Dear [Name]:

Since the "million dollar barrier" in personal injury verdicts was first broken well over 30 years ago, there have been literally hundreds of such cases, and many thousands of judgments in the middle-to-high six-figure range. This is not a "big-city" or a regional phenomenon. There are high verdicts throughout the U.S.

A prosperous firm such as yours is particularly vulnerable should one of your employees negligently cause death or injury to others. A special, high-limit liability policy, aptly termed "umbrella liability," is available on top of your "primary" liability policy and affords coverage of $1,000,000 or more for all the usual liability exposures. This includes automobile, products, employers liability, etc.

In addition, the umbrella usually picks up many additional coverages that you may not have insured presently, such as advertisers liability, false arrest, libel and slander, etc. (These additional coverages, however, are normally subject to a self-insured deductible.) This approach to liability protection successfully meets the threat of ever larger verdicts.

I'd like to call you in a couple of days to make an appointment to discuss umbrella liability with you.

Sincerely,
