This listing identifies
endorsements available to modify the American Association of Insurance Services
(AAIS) Contractors Special Policy. It is arranged by endorsement number and briefly
describes the use of each endorsement. This section does not include any state
specific endorsements, changes, or amendments.
The lettering and
numbering sequence of AAIS endorsements have a specific meaning.
AP 0225–Asbestos
Exclusion
This endorsement adds
exclusions for the liability exposures related to asbestos and asbestos-related
products.
AP 0226–Additional
Insured–Engineers, Architects, or Surveyors
This endorsement adds any
engineer, architect, or surveyor the named insured uses as an additional
insured. It does not provide professional liability coverage.
AP 0230–Silica
Exclusion
This endorsement adds
exclusions for the liability exposures related to silica and silica-related
dust.
AP 0231–Exclusion–Water
Damage
This is a mandatory endorsement. It replaces the Water exclusion in the
policy and makes it more restrictive. It excludes waterborne material damage
and water that backs up or is otherwise discharged through sewers and drains or
other systems that remove subsurface water near foundations. It is an absolute
exclusion in that it applies regardless of the cause of the water damage.
AP 0232–Additional
Insured–Lessor of Premises
This endorsement adds as
an additional insured the party on the endorsement schedule that leases the premises
on the endorsement schedule to the named insured. Coverage applies only with
respect to the named insured's legal liability for damages that relate to the
leased premises. Coverage is for bodily injury, property damage, personal
injury, or advertising injury caused by the named insured's acts or omissions or
the acts or omissions of others that act on its behalf.
AP 0233–Exclusion–War
and Military Action
This is a mandatory endorsement. It replaces the war exclusions in the
policy for both liability and property coverages.
AP 0236–Additional
Insured–Lessor of Leased Equipment
This endorsement adds
liability coverage for the party on the endorsement schedule from whom the
named insured leases equipment. It applies to that party's liability caused by
the named insured's maintenance, operation, or use of the leased equipment.
AP 0301–Additional
Insured–Designated Person or Organization
This endorsement adds the
party on the endorsement schedule as an additional
insured. Coverage applies only to its liability for bodily injury, property
damage, personal injury, or advertising injury with respect to the named
insured's designated interests listed on the endorsement schedule. The loss or
damage must be due to the named insured's acts or omissions or the acts or
omissions of others that act on its behalf.
AP 0303–Amendment of
Contractual Liability Coverage
This endorsement restricts
Supplemental Coverages–Contractual Liability f. to only bodily injury or
property damage caused by the named insured or by others that act on its
behalf.

coverages each have a $10,000 limit. The Rental Reimbursement limit is $2,500.

AP 0330–Water Backup
and Overflow Coverage
This endorsement covers water that backs up or is discharged from sewers
and drains. This includes other systems that remove subsurface water near
foundations and water damage due to breakdown of mechanical equipment. Coverage
applies at the location and for the covered property and limit on the
endorsement schedule. This endorsement excludes repairing or replacing equipment
damaged by mechanical breakdown and adds exclusions that relate to ordinary maintenance
and proper condition of such equipment.
AP 0337–Additional
Insured–Owners, Lessees, or Contractors–Automatic Status
This endorsement provides
additional insured status to any party for whom the named insured performs
work. Coverage applies only when there is a contractual obligation to include
the party as an additional insured. Coverage is limited to the extent of the
party's liability that results from the named insured's acts or omissions or
the acts or omissions of others that act on its behalf. Coverage does not apply
to the named insured's completed work.
AP 0338–Additional
Insured–Owners, Lessees, or Contractors–Designated Person or Organization
This endorsement adds the
party listed on the endorsement schedule as an additional insured. Coverage applies
to bodily injury, property damage, personal injury, or advertising injury
caused by the named insured's acts or omissions. This includes acts or omissions
committed by others on the named insured's behalf with respect to the named
insured's continuing work at the jobsite on the endorsement schedule. Coverage
does not apply to the named insured's completed work. This endorsement differs
from GL 113 because it does not list the location(s) of covered operations like
GL 113 does.
AP 0339–Additional Insured–Engineers,
Architects, or Surveyors Not Engaged by You
This endorsement adds the
engineer, architect, or surveyor that the named insured does not engage on the
endorsement schedule as an additional insured. Coverage applies for only that party's liability caused by the named
insured's acts or omissions or the acts or omissions of others that act on its
behalf with respect to the named insured's premises or ongoing work. It does
not provide any professional liability.
This endorsement differs
from GL 117 because it lists the specific engineer(s), architect(s), or surveyor(s)
the named insured does not engage. GL
117 applies to all engineers, architects, or surveyors the named insured does engage without listing them.
AP 0340–Additional
Insured–Lessor of Leased Equipment–Automatic Status
This endorsement provides
additional insured status to any party from whom the named insured leases
equipment. Coverage applies only when the named insured has a contractual
obligation to include the party as an additional insured.
AP 0341–Additional
Insured–Owners, Lessees, or Contractors–Completed Work
This endorsement includes
the party on the endorsement schedule as an additional insured. Coverage
applies to liability that results from the named insured's completed work
performed at the location on the endorsement schedule.
AP 0342–Additional
Insured–State or Political Subdivisions–Permits
This endorsement adds the
state or political subdivision on the endorsement schedule as an additional
insured. It applies to only work the named insured performs or work others
perform on its behalf for which a permit is required that the scheduled
subdivision issues. It does not apply to work done for the political
subdivision or to the products/completed work hazard.
This endorsement differs
from GL 111 because it has exclusions for bodily injury and property damage
that arise out of the products/completed work hazard and for bodily injury,
property damage, and personal and advertising injury that arise out of work the
named insured performs for the state or political subdivision.
AP 0360–Limited Fungus and Related Perils Coverage
This property endorsement
excludes fungus and related perils. It then adds a limited amount of coverage
but only to the building and premises and for the limit entered on the
endorsement schedule.
AP 0365–Virus or
Bacteria Exclusion
This is a mandatory
property endorsement. It excludes coverage for loss, cost, or expense caused
by, that results from, or that relates to any virus, bacterium, or other microorganism
that causes (or may cause) disease, illness, or physical distress.

AP 0643–Known Injury or Damage Amendments
This is a mandatory
endorsement. It modifies the Coverage L–Bodily Injury Liability/Property Damage
Liability and Coverage N–Products/Completed Work insuring agreements. Coverage
applies only if the bodily injury and property damage is not a continuation of
injury or damage the named insured knew about before the policy period began.
It also revises the definition of designated insured to include any party that
would usually know about this type of event.
AP 0644–Employment-Related Practices Liability Coverage–Extended
Reporting Period
This endorsement is used
with AP 0621–Employment-Related Practices Liability Coverage–Claims-Made Basis.
It extends the time to report a claim to three years for an additional premium
charge. It includes a separate aggregate limit that applies to claims received
and recorded during the extended reporting period. This aggregate limit is the same
as the aggregate limit in AP 0621.
AP 0658–Voluntary Property Damage Coverage
This liability
endorsement covers property of others that the named insured damages while the
property is in its care, custody, or control, or because of work the named insured
performs. Coverage applies regardless of negligence. The endorsement has its own
occurrence and aggregate limits.
This endorsement differs
from GL 242 because it does not exclude mysterious disappearance or loss of use
of property.
AP 0659–Contractors' Equipment
This property endorsement
covers a variety of the named insured's equipment that it customarily uses in
its contracting, installation, erection, repair, or moving operations and
projects. Coverage applies to owned, leased, or rented equipment at job sites,
regular or temporary storage locations, and while in transit. The equipment can
be scheduled with specific limits or be written on a blanket basis with one
limit. Actual cash value or replacement cost value options are available. AP 0660–Contractors'
Equipment Schedule must be attached to provide limits.
AP 0660–Contractors' Equipment Schedule
This schedule is used
with AP 0659–Contractors Equipment. It has spaces to enter either a blanket
limit or a limit for each item of scheduled equipment. It has options for
valuation on a replacement cost and/or actual cash value basis or a combination
of the two.
AP 0661–Contractors' Tools
This property endorsement
covers owned, leased, or rented contractors' tools at job sites, regular or temporary
storage locations, and while in transit. It is also used to cover employees'
tools when at a job site. Coverage is on a blanket basis. It is written on an actual
cash value basis but replacement cost valuation is available as an option. The
limit, a description of the tools, and whether or not replacement cost
valuation applies are required entries on the endorsement schedule.
AP 0662–Installation Floater
This endorsement covers
materials, supplies, machinery, fixtures, equipment, and similar property
intended to become a permanent part of a construction, installation, or erection
project. Coverage applies at job sites, regular or temporary storage locations,
and while in transit for the limit(s) entered on the endorsement schedule. The
endorsement schedule also has a space for a separate catastrophe limit for
property at two or more locations when damaged in a single occurrence, such as
at multiple job sites or storage locations. Coverage is also available for loss
that results from testing materials, supplies, machinery, fixtures, or
equipment intended to be a permanent part of a covered construction, erection,
or installation project.
AP 0689–Exclusion–Wet Rot, Dry Rot, Bacteria, Fungi, or
Protists–Contracting Operations
This endorsement excludes
commercial liability coverage for mold-related injury or damage on contracting
risks.
Note: Protists are a kingdom of organisms that resemble plants,
animals, or both. They are usually one-celled but can be multi-celled and are
sometimes colonial. They usually include protozoans, some fungi (as in slime
molds), and most algae.
AP 0690–Exclusion–Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems
This endorsement excludes
all coverage under commercial liability for loss, damage, or injury that
results from any application or use of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems
(EIFS).
Note: EIFS is
defined as an exterior wall cladding or finish system used on any part of any structure.
AP 0691–Limited Coverage for Losses by Wet Rot, Dry Rot, Bacteria,
Fungi, or Protists
This endorsement covers
bodily injury or property damage on a limited basis that results from
ingesting, physical contact with, or inhaling wet rot, dry rot, bacteria,
fungi, or protists. This coverage is subject to its own occurrence and aggregate
limits entered on the endorsement schedule. However, bodily injury or personal injury
losses that result from food poisoning (defined as a food-borne or beverage-borne
form of bacteria that causes illness) are covered without restriction.
AP 0692–Exclusion–Damage to Work Performed by You or On Your Behalf
This liability
endorsement eliminates the subcontractor exception from this exclusion. This
results in much more restricted coverage.
AP 0693–Exclusion–Damage to Work Performed by You or On Your Behalf–Designated
Locations or Projects
This liability
endorsement eliminates the subcontractor exception from this exclusion but only
at the locations or projects on the endorsement schedule. This results in much
more restricted coverage at those locations or projects.

AP 0838–Auto and Mobile
Equipment Amendments
This liability endorsement
restricts mobile equipment coverage. It removes coverage for land motor vehicles
subject to compulsory or financial responsibility laws or motor vehicle insurance
laws in the state where they are licensed or garaged. These are considered
autos and not mobile equipment. As a result, coverage is excluded.
AP 0851–Other
Insurance Amendment
This mandatory liability endorsement amends Conditions 2. Insurance Under
More Than One Policy. It clearly states that this policy is excess over any
policy where the named insured is an additional insured.
AP 0852–Information
Distribution and Recording Violations Exclusion
This is a mandatory endorsement. It excludes coverage for bodily injury,
property damage, personal injury, and advertising injury that arises in any way
out of alleged or actual violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act
(TCPA) of 1991, the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
It applies to these and other laws involved with any aspect of handling
material or information.
AP
0853–Exclusion–Communicable Disease
This endorsement excludes coverage for bodily injury, property damage,
personal injury, and advertising injury that arises out of alleged or actual
transmission of communicable diseases by a person or property.

This endorsement is identical to AP 0853. However, it has an exception
for alleged or actual transmission of communicable diseases by products
intended for topical use or human consumption.
AP 0858–Pollution
Exclusion Amendment
This liability endorsement amends the policy’s Pollution Exclusions. It
provides exceptions for building equipment, hostile fire, and materials brought
into a building, fuels or lubricants for mobile equipment, and owners or
lessees as additional insureds.
AP 222–Property Damage
Liability Deductible
This endorsement adds a deductible to the Commercial Liability
Property Damage Coverage on either a per occurrence basis or a per claim basis
entered on the endorsement schedule. The insurance company may decide to pay
all or part of the deductible amount in order to clear the claim payment to the
third party and then have the named insured reimburse it for the amount of
deductible it paid.
AP 304–Money and Securities Coverage
This property endorsement
adds money and securities coverage for the perils of theft, disappearance, and
destruction. There is one limit for coverage inside the premises, within a
bank, savings and loan, or other financial institution. There is a different
limit at any location outside any such premises.
AP 305–Glass Coverage
The Property section of
the Contractors Special Policy covers glass (other than glass building blocks)
for $100 per plate or item and $500 for all glass in any one occurrence. This
endorsement covers the same property without such limitations for risks of
direct physical loss or damage, subject to certain exceptions. The only exclusions
are for Civil Authority, Nuclear Hazard, and War.
AP 307–Outdoor Sign Coverage
The Property section of
the Contractors Special Policy covers outdoor signs for a limit of $2,500 for
the perils of aircraft, civil commotion, explosion, fire, lightning, and riot.
This endorsement covers the same property for risks of direct physical loss or
damage (including losses due to earthquake, flood, and water damage) up to the
limit on the endorsement schedule. The only exclusions are for Civil Authority,
Nuclear Hazard, War, Contamination or Deterioration, Electrical Currents,
Mechanical Breakdown, and Wear and Tear.
AP 308–Employee Dishonesty Coverage
This endorsement covers loss
to real or personal property (including money and securities) that results from
dishonest or fraudulent acts that the named insured's employees or leased
employees commit. The only exclusions are for Civil Authority, Nuclear Hazard,
War, Inventory Shortage, Discovery of Previous Dishonest or Fraudulent Acts by
Employees, Acts of the Insured or Partners, Legal Expenses, and Discovery after
the Policy Period. Coverage is subject to the limit on the endorsement
schedule.
AP 310–Artisans Property Additional Coverage Endorsement 2

to make miscellaneous changes in policy coverage.
AP 496–Calendar Date or Time Failure Exclusion
This endorsement excludes both property and liability coverage due to
calendar date or time failure.
AP
1350–Exclusion-Data Breach Liability – Personal and Advertising Injury
This exclusion replaces AP 1351. It is similar except that
it applies only to personal injury and advertising injury. The exclusion does
not apply to bodily injury or property damage.
AP
1351–Exclusion-Data Breach Liability
This is a mandatory exclusion. The exclusion is very broad
because even though it is called “data breach” the exclusion never mentions
that term except in the title. Instead, it eliminates coverage for ANY type of
disclosure or even just access to private or confidential information
regardless of who that information belongs to. The term “data records” is defined
but that term applies only to such damages related directly to those data
records.

or operates the leased equipment.
BP 307–Additional Insured–Owner or Lessor of Leased Land
This endorsement extends
liability coverage to apply to the party on the endorsement schedule from whom

any structural alterations, new construction, or demolition operations that the
lessor performs or that others perform on its behalf.
BP 309–Liability Coverage–Designated Premises or Project

liability coverage to only the premises or projects on the endorsement
schedule. It also limits coverage to operations necessary or incidental to
owning, maintaining, or using those premises or projects.
BP 320–Accounts Receivable Coverage
This property endorsement
covers accounts receivable. Coverage applies to amounts owed the named insured
that cannot be collected from customers because records of receivables were
damaged or destroyed. Coverage also applies for costs to reconstruct damaged or
destroyed records, increased collection costs, and interest on loans used to
offset losses.
BP 321–Ordinance or Law Extension
This property endorsement
provides additional limits for increased costs associated with complying with
certain types of ordinances, laws, or decrees that regulate construction,
repair, use, or demolition of property. It insures the value of undamaged portions
of the premises on the endorsement schedule that must be destroyed, debris
removal and demolition costs of those undamaged portions, and the increased costs
of construction to comply with the ordinances, laws, or decrees for the limits
indicated.
BP 322–Computer Coverage
This property endorsement
covers physical loss or damage to computer hardware and software the named
insured uses in its operations and business. Certain exceptions, limitations,
and exclusions apply. Losses that result from mechanical breakdown, earthquake,
flood, or water damage are covered because these perils are not specifically
excluded.
BP 328–Valuable Papers and Records Coverage
This property endorsement
covers loss or damage to valuable papers and records. These are books, maps,
films, drawings, abstracts, deeds, mortgages, and manuscripts. Coverage is
subject to the location of the covered property, the limit, and the deductible
on the endorsement schedule. A $5,000 limit applies to covered property when
away from the premises and at other locations.
BP 330–Water Damage Coverage–Back Up of Sewers and Drains
This endorsement covers water that backs up or is discharged from sewers
and drains. This includes other systems that remove subsurface water near
foundations and water damage due to breakdown of mechanical equipment. Coverage
applies at the location and for the covered property and limit on the
endorsement schedule. This endorsement excludes repairing or replacing
equipment damaged by mechanical breakdown and adds exclusions that relate to
ordinary maintenance and proper condition of such equipment.
This endorsement differs from AP 0330 because it has an option to add
Loss of Income coverage.
BP 331–Protective Devices
This is a restrictive
property endorsement. The named insured must maintain the protective devices or
services on the endorsement schedule. If it does not, the coverage that applies
to the device ends if the insurance company is not informed of any change in
its status.
BP 332–Earthquake Coverage
This endorsement covers
earthquake and volcanic eruption loss or damage to covered property. All events
that take place in a 168-hour period are treated as one occurrence. A
percentage deductible provision applies separately to each building or
structure, personal property in each building or structure, and property stored
in the open or in or on vehicles at each location. The percentage deductible is
entered on the declarations.
BP 333–Non-Owned Auto Liability Coverage Hired Auto Liability Coverage
This endorsement extends
Coverage L–Bodily Injury Liability/Property Damage Liability to non-owned,
hired, or short-term leased automobiles the named insured uses in its business.
Either or both coverages can be selected by entering the premium charge on the
endorsement schedule. There are some eligibility restrictions that apply to
employees or parties that qualify as insureds.
BP 336–Premium Payments
This endorsement has
terms and conditions that apply to renewable policies or ones that have a
continuous policy term. It states that the annual renewal or continuation
policy premium is calculated and paid on the policy anniversary date. It also
states that it is based on the insurance company's rates, premiums, coverage
forms, and endorsements.
BP 348–Theft Exclusion
This property endorsement
excludes losses to personal property caused by or that result from theft,
burglary, and robbery. It does not apply to looting or pillaging at the time
and place of a riot or civil commotion. Coverage applies to any resulting loss
that a specified peril causes.
BP 350–Condominium Unit-Owners Coverage
This endorsement deletes
business personal property coverage and replaces it. The use interest item is replaced
with coverage for owned improvements the named insured made to the building.
Note: This endorsement omits item 3. that covers leased property
the named insured is contractually responsible to insure. This omission could
result in an unintentional gap in coverage.
BP 499–Additional Insured–Grantor of Franchise
This endorsement extends
commercial liability coverage to apply to the party on the endorsement schedule
with respect to its liability as a grantor of a franchise to the named insured.
Coverage does not apply to liability that arises solely out of the additional insured
grantor's negligence.
BP 605–Expanded Non-Owned Auto Liability Coverage/Hired Auto Liability
Coverage
This endorsement extends
Coverage L–Bodily Injury Liability/Property Damage Liability to non-owned,
hired, or short-term leased automobiles the named insured uses in its business.
Either or both coverages can be selected by entering the premium charge on the
endorsement schedule. There are some eligibility restrictions that apply to employees
or parties that qualify as insureds. This endorsement's non-owned auto coverage
is broadened to apply to non-owned autos the named insured uses in its
business.
CP 132–Loss Payable Options
This endorsement provides
arrangements and allocation of payments to Loss Payees, Lender's Loss Payees,
and Contract of Sale Payees to the extent of their interest in the described
property at the designated location.
GL 108–Additional Insureds
This endorsement identifies
co-owners of the insured premises, those that have controlling interest in
either the named insured or the premises, or mortgagees, assignees, or receivers
as additional insureds under commercial liability coverage based on entries on
the endorsement schedule.
GL 111–Additional Insured (State or
Political Subdivisions–Premises Permits)
This
endorsement identifies the state or political subdivision on the endorsement
schedule as an additional insured with respect to one or more of the hazards or
situations listed on the endorsement and for which a permit has been issued.
The three types of hazards or situations are existence hazards, construction
hazards, and owning, maintaining, and using elevators.
GL 113–Additional Insured–Owners, Lessees,
or Contractors
This endorsement includes the additional
insured on the endorsement schedule for its liability that arises out of the
named insured's work for that additional insured. It also applies to the
additional insured's acts or omissions related to its general supervision of
the named insured's work. The named insured's work must be performed at the
location on the endorsement schedule.
GL 117–Additional Insured–Engineers, Architects, or Surveyors
This endorsement adds as
an additional insured any architect, engineer, or surveyor the named insured
engages with respect to liability that arises out of the named insured's
premises or work.
This endorsement differs
from AP 0339 because AP 0339 lists specific architects, engineers, or surveyors
that the named insured does not
engage.
GL 142–Amendment–Aggregate Limits of Insurance (Per Project)
This endorsement amends
the Commercial Liability limits section. It states that the general aggregate
limit applies separately to each of the named insured's projects located away
from premises the named insured owns or rents.
GL 210–Liability Exclusion (Applying to All Hazards in Connection With
Designated Premises, Operations, or Products)
This endorsement excludes

GL 212–Exclusion–Explosion, Collapse, Underground Property Damage
Hazard
This liability
endorsement excludes property damage coverage for the selected and defined
hazards of explosion, collapse, and underground property damage at the location
and for the description on the endorsement schedule. The exclusion does not
apply to operations that others perform for the named insured or to property
damage that the products/completed work hazard includes.
GL 242–Supplemental Liability Coverage Care, Custody, or Control
Exception
This liability
endorsement provides property damage liability coverage to property of others
in an insured's care, custody, or control. Coverage is subject to the per
occurrence limit on the endorsement schedule.
This endorsement is
similar to AP 0658 but differs because it excludes losses due to mysterious
disappearance or loss of use of the property.
GL 841–Additional Insured–Designated Party
This liability
endorsement adds the party, activity, and/or interest designated on the
endorsement schedule as an additional insured. Coverage applies only with
respect to liability that results from activities identified on the endorsement
schedule related to the named insured's operations or premises it owns or
rents.
GL 842–Additional Insured–Lessors
This liability
endorsement adds as an additional insured the party on the endorsement schedule
that owns the premises on the endorsement schedule that it leases it to the
named insured. The coverage provided is restricted to liability that arises
from owning, maintaining, or using the part of the premises the named insured
leases.
This endorsement differs
from AP 0232 because the additional insured's interest ends when its lease with
the named insured expires. It is also different because the lessor is not
covered for any construction, alteration, or demolition work it does or that
others do for it.
GL 890–Lead Liability Exclusion
This endorsement excludes
liability for all bodily injury, property damage, personal injury, and
advertising injury that arises out any form of lead. It may apply on a
mandatory basis under some programs. If it does, it must refer to state-specific
forms, endorsements, and requirements in order to determine if it applies with
a particular policy or in a particular state.
GL 891–Pesticide or Herbicide Applicator Coverage
This liability
endorsement provides limited pollution coverage for the pesticide or herbicide
application operation(s) on the endorsement schedule.
GL 892–Coverage E–Employee Benefits Liability Coverage (Claims-Made
Basis)
This endorsement covers
damages that result from the named insured's negligent acts, errors, or
omissions in administering its employee benefits program. Coverage is on a claims-made
basis and is subject to a per-claim limit and an annual aggregate limit. A
$1,000 deductible applies to each claim. Defense coverage is provided outside
the coverage limits. An automatic basic extended reporting period is included.
A supplemental extended reporting period of unlimited duration for an
additional premium charge is available by using GL 893–Employee Benefits
Liability Coverage-Supplemental Extended Reporting Period. The limits and the
retroactive dates must be entered in the spaces provided on the endorsement
schedule.
GL 893–Employee Benefits Liability Coverage-Supplemental Extended
Reporting Period
This endorsement is used when
GL 892–Coverage E–Employee Benefits Liability Coverage (Claims-Made Basis)
supplemental extended reporting period options is selected.
GL 894–Punitive Damages Exclusion
This liability
endorsement excludes payments for punitive, exemplary, or vindictive damages.
GL 895–Employee Redefined
This endorsement narrows
the definition of employee under commercial liability coverage to exclude both
leased workers and temporary workers.
GL 899–Cross Liability Exclusion
This is a very restrictive
liability endorsement. It removes all coverage when one insured sues another.
